[Error: unknown template qotd]I'm sure I could have remembered some better one-hit-wonders, but two cheezy songs that popped into my head were:

Buckner & Garcia: Pac-Mac Fever

Cajmere: The Percolator

Pac-Man Fever brings back a memory of when I was in elementary school (maybe 1st or 2nd grade?). I remember having that song stuck in my head one morning while I was standing on my neighbors porch. I think I was waiting for her to answer the door or something, and I was singing the song and walking around pretending I was pac-man and the square porch was the gameboard.

The Percolator song brings back a memory of Band-A-Rama (I was in the Marching Band)... I think one night after a show we went out for pizza, and someone had that song playing on their boombox.

The Large Hadron Collider was turned on today, and from what I can tell I'm still alive and in one piece - no black holes have sucked the life out of me yet. ;-)

The LHC has been the buzz of the internet - in fact, Google even updated their logo for the occasion:

If you're not familiar with the Hadron Collider, you can read about it here:

I’m so excited about the new season of battlestar galacticia...

Did anyone happen to see the top 10 on David Letterman with the cast of BSG? They were in costume...

Halloween is only 17 days away, so it's time to start thinking about Fall recipes. I found the following on the web - I may try it out:

  • 1 1/2 cups pumpkin puree

  • 1 (12 fluid ounce) can evaporated milk

  • 2 eggs

  • 3/4 cup white sugar

  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1 1/4 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).

  2. In a large bowl, combine pumpkin, evaporated milk, eggs, sugar, flour, salt vanilla and cinnamon. Pour filling into pie shell.

  3. Bake for 20 minutes at 450 degrees F (230 degrees C) then turn oven temperature down to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and continue baking 40 more minutes or until a knife inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely on a wire rack before serving.

Bad Drivers...

The driver in the above pic was an awful driver (plus his left break light was not working). That guy was pacing cars so people couldn't pass, and he was on a cell phone! When he finally got out of the left hand lane he didn't even use his turn signal.

Mystery Meat...

I was just going through some pictures on my desktop and I found this from 01-02-2007. Matt & I were supposed to have tacos that night. In fact, it was still Christmas Break! :

I hate expired food - there's nothing worse than going to the store to buy something, only to get home later to notice the expiration date has passed. The date on this particular meat had not yet expired, but something didn't look appealing about the texture and such. I'm not sure if it's visible in the pic, but I remember part of the meat had a nice red color, while other parts were the typical brownish color you would normally see when meat was about to expire, or was already expired...

Anyhow.. bigger pic behind the cut:

Last night I went to a party store that I've never been to before. I picked up some things, and then on an impulse buy I decided to get Matt & I some Mocha Frappuccinos... I also picked up a box of Dots because I have a soft spot for them and felt like I deserved another treat.

A little while later I decided to open up my box of Dots. Immediately I knew something was wrong because they were not soft. In fact, they were so hard that I didn't dare eat them in fear of breaking my teeth... I slammed one of the Dots on the counter and it sounded like a penny. I jokingly told Matt that I wouldn't be surprised if the Frappuccinos were also expired.

I was right:

Back in December I got a new fish... this one is a Socolofi Cichlid. I used to have this type of fish when I lived in the apartment - it didn't survive for very long after the move.

For a size comparison, here's my Demasoni in the same spot:

I called the fishtank cleaning guy and scheduled a visit for Tuesday... he's also going to take the catfish out of the tank. :-(

I'll hate to see the big guy go, but it's probably for the best... hopefully the pet store will put him in a nice big tank (75+ gallons) so the fish will have some room to move around until he's sold or dies. Since I have such little time left to take pictures and such, I think I'm going to position the camera/tripod in front of the tank so I can get some video of it feeding/swimming.

Another reason...
